Service FAQ
Most procedures are performed under light conscious sedation or moderate anesthesia administered by a certified professional. You will fall asleep quickly and feel absolutely no pain or discomfort. You will wake up within 15 minutes of completion with no memory of the procedure.
An Upper Endoscopy (EGD) takes approximately 10 to 15 minutes to complete. A full colonoscopy usually takes 20 to 30 minutes. You should plan for a total of 2 hours at the clinic to allow for pre-procedure preparation and post-procedure recovery.
If you receive sedation during your diagnostic procedure, you are legally restricted from driving, operating heavy machinery, or signing legal documents for 24 hours. A responsible adult relative or friend must escort you home.
Most commercial health insurance plans and government coverage fully cover screening colonoscopies starting at age 45 with zero out-of-pocket costs, as they are classified as preventive care. Diagnostic services (for patients with symptoms) are usually covered subject to deductibles.
